Performances aboard the Mass Rapid Transit

I bet some of you didn't know what MRT stands for.. unless I'm underestimating Singaporeans.

So I saw this on a friend's (Keng) blog and thought its quite an insightful view on how Indians don't sit quiet after being provoked (Provoked is incidentally the name of a movie where an Indian wife gets beaten up by her husband and she ends up burning him to death. Interesting concept, bad execution).

I don't blame her for going all ape on the chinese woman, because she meant well for the Malay couple who skidooched after hearing the Indian aunty's voice frequency rising by the second. I noticed how typical Indians are through this tet à tet. Some of the things she said actually sounded familiar, like I've heard my crazy aunty scream and move her hands in a similar way once. Come to think of it, she was wearing something pink too.

OH WELL.

The performer up next is someone quite special. She practices her dance steps on the move.
It would have been funny if it was an advertisement for Senheiser earphones or something, where upon seeing her dance, other people around would start dancing too. But this is Singapore. and its the MRT. So, its a tad freaky woman.

To relate a few personal experiences of mine, while traveling to camp (from Paya Lebar to Clementi, EVERY WEEKDAY), there was this school girl who got on between Bugis and Outram Park, quite young with short hair. She used to hold her hands up in a clawing position with a big smile and enlarged eyes and look at the people around like they were huge pieces of candy and like she was about to pounce on one of them.
Then she would suddenly stop and start singing some chinese song in a gargly voice (like u know when u gargle there's this weird jerky sound from your voice box). People would ultimately look at her for awhile and then look away and continue sleeping. Then she would start swinging around the pole (not in a whore/stripper way) and act out some dialogues (I could make out they were dialogues because of her expressions).

I would have laughed but I was focusing my energy on grabbing a seat once it became available.

Aaah, those were wonderful times.
